IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL NASA PARENTS

A number of rules and policies pertaining to training sessions have been outlined by the coaching staff and the NASA Board of Directors.  So that none of these policies are being overlooked, they are being mentioned here along with additional information to some commonly asked questions.  Please review the list below and discuss them with your child as we try to minimize problems.  Also, feel free to refer to your Handbook.

¨      Swimmers should be dropped off for training no more than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled training times.  The locker rooms are not open until 5-10 minutes prior to training and swimmers arriving earlier are left unsupervised in the hallways.  The only exception is forStar Z/Gold swimmers who ride with members of early training groups or stay at NMS after school due to another activity.  Regardless, they are expected to wait on the benches in the hallway until training.

¨      No persons in the halls outside the locker rooms should go beyond or be on the handicapped ramp.  Please do not touch the  AED as the alarm will sound.

¨      Swimmers should be picked up from training no more than 15 minutes after training is scheduled to end.  Swimmers not picked up on time causes staff members to have to remain unnecessarily beyond practices.  We also ask that no one wait outside the main entrance to be picked up.  Please wait inside!

¨      Anyone arriving late or leaving practice early must arrange this a day in advance with the coach.

¨      Swimmers are expected to be upon their best behavior in the locker room and halls.  Discipline problems will be taken care of by giving the swimmer a warning on the 1st offense and notifying the parent on the 2nd offense.  At this time, the Head Coach and Parents will establish a Behavior Modification program for the child!  If behavior problems persist, in that, it distracts from the goals of the program and others then suspension or dismissal from the team will be decided by the Board and Club Director.

¨      Please do not bring friends or siblings along to training.  They are not allowed on the pool deck and cannot be left in the hallway unsupervised.

¨      No one except swimmers and staff are allowed on the pool deck during training.  Exceptions:  Designated time to view training as established by the Board and Coaches.  Also, if you must see a Coach immediately then you may stand inside entry located by the double pool doors.

¨      Although we want swimming to be a fun experience for everyone involved, the training times are scheduled for serious training.  Persons coming to training for playtime will be asked to adhere or leave so that others may train.

¨      Please check the training schedule for times so that swimmers are arriving for the correct training time.  Occasional scheduling conflicts do cause some changes in training times.  Persons arriving late for training will not be allowed to train that evening unless previous arrangements have been made with a coach or a note is presented by a parent upon arrival for an emergency.  It is important to make the required number of sessions per week.

¨       Please check the meet schedule to know which meets apply to your swimmer(s).  Remember, swimmers must wear a NASA cap and suit at all meets unless special situations are approved by the coach.  These should not be worn during training time unless approved by the Coach!

¨      The NASA box will be placed out in the hallway nightly.  NO swimmers, except those who drive, are allowed in the box (folders).  It is the parent’s responsibility to check the box weekly for information.

¨      Check your calendar to find out when Installment Plan club dues are to be paid.  Also, refer to weekly blast e-mails to know when to pay meet entry fees.  Please get those to Wendy Bernth on time to avoid missing opportunities.  Further fees questions?  Refer to the Terms and Conditions Form or Handbook!

¨      If anyone needs information on goggles, check with a Coach.  Caps (both practice and NASA) can be purchased when the swim shop is open.  Watch for the swim shop open sign on the NASA box in regards to times the shop is open.

¨      There is a lost and found in Coach Keller’s office and items can be claimed by checking with a Coach.  Please write names on goggle straps and suits (the tag).

¨      Team suits will be available for purchase.  Girl’s suits will cost $45 and boy’s will cost $30.  These will need to be fitted by a Head Coach or Wendy prior to purchase.  These can be purchased when the swim shop is open.

¨      Anyone in the Big Dipper Group (11 & up) will be required to have their own training equipment.  See a Head Coach for details and ordering information.

¨      Anyone who is a Big Dipper/Senior Group Swimmer will be issued a lock and locker to use.  Please remember to treat these as they are your own.  Locker privileges may be taken away if behavior problems are an issue!

¨      Parents, please help your swimmer(s) learn how to read a standard dial clock.  This will help them with their training sessions!!!

Again, we ask that everyone try to adhere to the above guidelines.  With the size of the NASA team it takes everyone’s cooperation in order to make practices run smoothly and for everyone to be able to get the most out of their time.  Finally, if you have any questions, then please feel free to ask!!!

                                                                                                Thank you,

                                                                                                NASA Board of Directors
